Hi! My name is Sam Wilson. Ever since 2008 kayaking hasn’t just been a hobby, it’s been my passion. This amazing sport has taken me all over the globe; coaching, training and competing. I have been competing as a part of the Team GB Freestyle Kayaking Team since 2014. In 2025 I won the ICF Freestyle World Championship for Squirt Boating where I also set 3 new world records! I have also won a Gold medal in the 2023 Euro Cup and Bronze in 2019 at the Worlds. I also compete in the K1 and C1 disciplines. I really enjoy pushing myself in a variety of craft, learning new tricks, skills and testing what I once thought impossible!

I first started coaching while I was working at the Lee Valley White Water Centre back in 2016; home of the 2012 Olympic Games. Sharing my passion and enthusiasm for kayaking is wonderful. I get to work with so many amazing people, from so many different backgrounds and see the impact, progress and development both on and off the water. In 2019 I took the decision to dive specifically into white water and freestyle coaching as this is where my passion for the sport comes from.
